Page 1Margaret Keck Bollinger was born near Augburg, Germany, April 1, 1834 and died at her home near Wapello April 27, 1911, aged 77 years and 26 days. She came to America when quite young and settled in New Orleans. There she was united in marriage to Louis Bollinger in 1849, where they continued to reside until the close of the civil war when they moved to St. Louis for a short time, coming to Iowa in 1866, where they made their home in Wapello and then later removing to the farm in Jefferson township about three miles southwest of Wapello. Here the husband preceded her in death January 16, 1910. Six children had been born to them, three preceded her to the better world, one son dying in infancy and the other, John Bollinger, in 1896 and one daughter in married life. She is survived by her son, Louis Bollinger, Jr., of Chicago and two daughters, Mrs. Lena Parsons of Wapello and Miss Amelia who made her home with her mother. Deceased was a sister of the late Philip and John Keck, both of whom were resident of Wapello.
She was a faithful wife and a beloved mother and esteemed neighbor. Her parents were Lutheran and she was reared and confirmed in the Lutheran church. Her last illness was of short duration, death being caused by a paralytic stroke. Funeral services were held at the home Saturday morning, conducted by Rev. J. E. Newsom, pastor of the M. E. church. Interment in the Wapello cemetery
