Mrs. Lemuel Johnson, a well known resident of Louisa county, died at her home three miles north of Fredonia, after an illness of two weeks, Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Mrs. Johnson was born in Brevel county, Ohio, April 12, 1836 and was married January 24, 1858. She and her husband came to Iowa in 1863. For twenty-two years, they made their home elsewhere than in this state, living for sixteen years in California and for six years in Wisconsin. They returned to Louisa county six years ago. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband and by one daughter, Miss Vera, who resides at home. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Fredonia Methodist Episcopal church, the services being in charge of Rev. A. W. Gillian, pastor of the church. Interment was made at the Indian Creek cemetery.
