A. J. Staats was born in Indian, April 15th, 1831 and departed this life at his home in Wapello, Iowa., March 20, 1911, aged 79 years, 11 months and 5 days. He was married to his now bereft wife October, ?, 1861, To them were born ten children, six boys having preceded the father in death. The remaining are: Edward and Ira, of Wapello, Mrs. Silas Ruby, of near Wapello and Miss Veina Staats of Cedar Rapids. Mr. Staats was converted and joined the Methodist church about twenty-two years ago. (unreadable) The funeral services were held from the home yesterday afternoon at two o'clock conducted by Elder R. F. Fin? of Hurdland, Know county, Mo. (unreadable) Interment was made in Harrison cemetery.
