Mrs. Harriet Reiner, of Columbus City, who suffered a stroke of paralysis last Thursday, died at her home in that place Monday without regaining consciousness. Mrs. Reiner had been in her usual health in the morning but before noon her daughter, who had been away from the house for a short time, found her upon her return prostrate on the floor, and she gradually grew weaker until the end came. The Reiners were old time residents of Columbus City, having lived there since the fifties.

Mrs. Reiner was the oldest citizen as to time of residence, of the place, but one. She was born in Ohio October 10, 1829, was married to John Reiner May 9, 1850 and came with him to Iowa in 1852. Their union was blessed with three daughters, all of whom survive the parents. Mr. Reiner died in 1859. They are Emma Linn, Lizzie McCormick and Cynthia McConnell. The former has lived with her mother since the death of the father. All were with her at the last.

When Mr. and Mrs. Reiner came to Iowa they settled in Washington county, near Crawfordsville, on a farm and later removed to Highland township, Washington county. Mrs. Reiner had the honor of naming the township. A few years later they came to Columbus City which place continued to be their home. Mrs. Reiner was a long time member of the Christian church. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon. Burial in the Columbus City cemetery.
