Lois Firn Benton, 72, widow of Harry S. Benton, died at Cedar Rapids, Monday, May 22, 1972 after a lingering illness.
Born Lois Firn Birlingham Jan. 16, 1900 near Jordons Grove, Linn county, she was the daughter of James and Ida Peck Birlingham. At a early age she moved with her parents to the Fremont area where she attended school.
She was married to Harry S. Benton in 1955 and they made their home in Central City for several years before moving to the Anamosa vicinity. Mr. Benton preceded her in death Jan. 25, 1966. She is survived by four children, Mrs. Harry (Pearl) Luker, Mrs. Mabel Boner, Edward Biggart and Richard Biggart, all of Anamosa; three step children, Mrs. Raymond Spinler, Coggon; Mrs. Glen Dickey, Mt. Vernon; Mrs. LeRoy Fowler, Lakeland, Fla. Also surviving are 29 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Ora Mills, Prairie City, Ore. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and four sisters.
Funeral services are scheduled at Goettsch Funeral home Thursday, May 25 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Brown Garlock officiating. Interment will be in Wilcox cemetery near Anamosa.
Casket bearers are Steve Shover, Alan Houska, Cecil Collins, Larry Culver, Wilbur Collins, Roger Grassfield.
