Walter J. Noonan, 83, died Saturday, April 22, 1972 at John McDonald hospital, Monticello. Services were Tuesday, April 25 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart church with Devaney Funeral home in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Sacred Heart cemetery.

He was born Feb. 21, 1889 at Bernard, the son of Richard and Elizabeth Stanton Noonan. On June 6, 1922, he married Pauline Brady at St. Patrick's church, North Garryowen. The couple farmed in the Garryowen, Sand Springs and Prairieburg areas before retiring and moving to Monticello where they lived the past ten years.

Survivors are his wife, Pauline; four sons, Norbert, Central City; Merlin, Anamosa; Richard, Cedar Rapids, Delbert, Coggon; two daughters, Mrs. Kathleen Mahieu, Rockford, Ill.; Mrs. Walter (Rita) Ries, Monticello; 23 grandchildren; and a brother, Harold Noonan, Bernard.
