Gabriel E. Ward, retired Baldwin farmer, died Sunday, March 19 at the Maquoketa hospital. Funeral services were held March 21 at the Monmouth Methodist church with the Rev. Don Turkelson and the Rev. Morgan Schomer officiating. Burial was in the Monmouth cemetery. Carson Funeral home, Maquoketa was in charge of arrangements.

Gabriel E. Ward was born Sept. 16, 1897 in Jones county, the son of Slyvester A. and Rhoda Gibson Ward. He married Elna Clapp Jan. 23, 1935 at Oxford Junction.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Roy Daniel, San Clemente, Calif.; Richard Adelbert, Monmouth; Larry William, Baldwin; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, a brother and three sisters.
