Raymond Alfred Naylor, 78, Scotch Grove, died Feb. 22, 1972 at John McDonald hospital, Monticello, following a stroke suffered Nov. 28. He had been a Scotch Grove resident for 51 years.

Born Nov. 26, 1893 at Kansas City, Mo., he was married to Pearl Anway May 20, 1917 at Rhodes, Iowa. In 1920 they moved to Scotch Grove, where he served as agent for the CMST P&P Railroad and founded the Farmer's Grain Company with its well-known trade mark, "Owned and Operated by the Nine Naylors." Ray Naylor was a member of the Jones County Soil Conservation committee for ten years and a 32nd Degree Mason, recently awarded his 50 year membership certificate.

Surviving are his wife Pearl, at home; three sons, Raymond II (Dick), Applegate, Calif.; Jack, Burlington; Jerry, Scotch Grove; four daughters, Mrs. Frank (Carol) Mieir, Los Alamitos, Calif.; Mrs. Connie Stephens, Victorville, Calif.; Mrs. Laurel Oppelt, Port Angeles, Wash.; Mrs. Charles (Lois) Colstadt, Huntington Beach, Calf.; 27 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

A sister, Mrs. Claud Martin, resides in Overland Park, Kan.; a niece, Mr. Charles Cole, in Kansas City, Kan., and a cousin, Mrs. Marguerite Wasson, in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Private interment services will be held Friday morning at Cedar Memorial Chapel, Cedar Rapids, with Elder Melvin Dotson, Pastor of the reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints, officiating. Memorial services will be held Friday, Feb. 25 at 3 p.m. at Goettsch Funeral home, Monticello, with Elder Lewis Howard, Cedar Rapids, officiating. Friends may call there after 1 p.m. Thursday.

The casket will not be opened at any time. The family has requested that those who wish to honor the memory of the beloved husband and father may contribute to the La Buena Fe Foundation (R.L.D.S.) which sponsors a medical clinic in the primitive area of Magote, Honduras, Central Ameria. Their daughter Laurel, a registered nurse, returned Monday from a medical mission there.
