CENTER JUNCTION - Funeral services for Alvin C. Winchip, 84, Center Junction, were held at St. Paul's United Methodist church, Olin, Thursday, Feb. 3, at 1:30 p.m. Mr. Winchip died Feb. 1 at Springville. Funeral arrangements were made by Hayden Funeral home, Olin, and services were performed by the Rev. Lloyd Dutro. Burial was in the Olin cemetery.
Alvin C. Winchip was born May 3, 1887 near Maquoketa, the son of Arthur and Julia Ann Gordon Winchip. He moved near Olin as a boy and attended rural schools in Jones county. He was married to Lila Belle Mitchell in Olin May 6, 1908. They farmed near Olin and then near Jenkins, Minn. for four years; they returned to Olin for four years and later farmed near Wyoming, Scotch Grove, and Center Junction until recently.
He is survived by his wife, Belle, Scotch Grove; two sons, Mitchell, Scotch Grove; Arthur, Anamosa; two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Ardith) Gray, Monticello; and Mrs. Irvin (Roberta) Sievers, Wyoming; 13 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers.
Pallbearers were Louis Winchip, Lavern Winchip, Claude Husmann, Russell Stadtmueller, Charles Nolte and Virgil Burns.
