Hi Verda, What Civil War book are you looking in? So William died of measles? Was he in the Army at the time? I don't have a marriage record on Josephine Hill and Andrew Hill. You say that she was "signed for" by James A Hill. This could be her father(or if Armstrong Hill was her father then James could be the brother) Maybe Armstrong and James were brothers. Right now it is confusing to me. Ihave not found the 1860 Census for Armstrong Hill family. But they were in Brooke Co Virginia in 1850.(now Brooke Co West Virginia) Josephine was not born yet. I really need to find where they were in the 1860 Census. Yes I have sent for Armstrong's Pension file but I have not received it yet. I have sent a check and a request to the Historical and Geaneology Society for some information on the Hills. It was sent about 2 weeks ago so I hope you got it by now. I will be happy to share family group sheets with you once I get it all straightened out. By the way I sent family group sheets on the Duncans some time back did you get them? The Duncans and some Hills moved from Iowa to Washington County, Kansas, near Washington City. Andrew bought land there and stayed in the County. Josephine died and is buried in Washington City Cemetery and Andrew remarried. Alexander moved around a bit and Mary Ann Hill Duncan died at the Fort Dodge Old Soldier's Home and is buried in the Cemetery there with Alexander in Ford Co. Kansas. Thanks Heaps! Barbara
