Death of Louis V. HOSATTE.

Louis V. HOSATTE died at his home in this city Friday, after a protracted illness. He was a native of France and was seventy years of age. Mr. HOSATTE came to Jefferson county in 1852, as a member of one of the early families of French settlers in Cedar township. He resided there until his removal to this city four years ago. He was an honest, industrious and frugal man and bore the good will and esteem of all who knew him. A daughter, Mrs. Noah ERICKSON, survives him, and a sister, Mrs. Julia MITCHELL, also resides in this city. Funeral services were held at St. Mary's church Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, and Father H. J. Hogan conducted funeral service.

Members of the family wish to publicly express their thanks to the friends and neighbors who rendered so many kindly services during Mr. HOSATTE's illness and after his death.

Note: Buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, IA, in Lot 2nd.058. He had been married to (in 1885), and divorced from (in 1890), Mary Tabitha PALM. The birth year on his gravestone is 1837, however the birth record in Belfort, Alsace, France gives his birthdate as November 24, 1836, the son of Jaques Francois and Mary BELOT HOSATTE, and name at birth of Vincent Louis Eugene HOSATTE. The surname HOSATTE has also been seen as HOSSATTE and HOSETTE.
