Battle Creek – Mrs. W. P. Hansen, lifelong resident of this community, died in a hospital at Rochester, Minn., Sunday after an illness of several months. Funeral services were conducted here Wednesday afternoon in the Christensen funeral home, with Rev. Albert C. J. Kellow officiating. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ted Nielsen, John Mickelsen, William Rossow, William Dausel, Albert Preston and Chris Laursen. Music was by a quartet, Mrs. Ray Goodenow, Mrs. Calvin Goodenow, Howard Grummon and John Babb, accompanied by Cassie Taylor. Songs used were “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” and “the Old Rugged Cross.” Mabel Sophia Pedersen, daughter of Niels and Johanna Pedersen, was born 6 miles north of Battle Creek, March 23, 1889, and passed away at the age of 55 years, 11 months and 24 days. All her life had been spent in this community. She was baptized in infancy by the Presbyterian minister. She was married to Will Hansen January 31, 1912. They went to live on the Hansen farm 5 miles northwest of Battle Creek and that was her home until her death. Two sons were born to them, Winston and Donald. Mrs. Hansen was a long time member of the Ladies Country club, taking an active part in neighborhood affairs. She was taken ill last December and entered the Battle Creek hospital January 15. Her physician advised her removal to Rochester. She went there February 4. She is survived by her husband Will Hansen, two sons, Winston and Donald; a granddaughter, Corliss, two sisters, Mrs. Emma Smith and Mrs. Anna Aduddell and one brother, Lars William and Hans Peter Pedersen; Mrs. Harry Linn, a sister, and an infant sister preceded her in death.
