George Glaman Passes Away.
George W. Glaman, a former citizen of Jewell, died at Mercy hospital in Webster City at 8:30 p. m. Sunday, September 14th, after a very brief sickness. Mr. Glaman was sick with gastritis although heart trouble and nervous prostration were the immediate causes of his death. He arrived here Tuesday of last week for a visit with his brothers and friends here, coming from Kansas City where he has resided the last five years. Shortly after arriving here he was taken ill and at the advice of Dr. Slater was taken to the hospital in an auto Sunday afternoon. Shortly after he breathed his last.
Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at one o'clock from the Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. English. The body was laid at rest in Evergreen cemetery.
Mr. Glaman was born in Carroll county, Ill., Dec. 1, 1862, and was 50 years, 8 months and 27 days of age at the time of his death. In the spring of 1880 he came with his parents to Jewell and resided here or near Jewell ever since until he removed to Kansas City five years ago. He had been married but had no children, his wife still surviving and living at Kansas City. He was one of a family of ten children of whom only John and Fred Glaman, both of Jewell, still survive. A half-sister, Mrs. Ann R. Tibbetts, of Sabula, Iowa, also survives. Mrs. Tibbetts and her daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Whitney, also of Sabula, were here for the funeral services.
The Record joins friends of the deceased in this vicinity in extending sympathy to the relatives in their bereavement.
