Mrs. O. M. Mortenson Passed Away
It is with sincere regret that we are again called upon to chronicle the passing from our midst an esteemed neighbor and friend.
Last Wednesday night Mrs. O. M. Mortenson was taken suddenly ill with cerebral hemorrhage and while everything possible was done, she passed away Friday without regaining consciousness. Mrs. O. M. Mortenson was born in Bukeburg, Norway, Oct. 4, 1855 and in 1887 was married to O. M. Mortenson, in Hamilton county, Iowa, where they have since resided.
Six sons were born of this union, all of whom survive her, James, Lars and Otto, of near Worthington, Minn., and Thorval, Morton and Malenius residing at home. All were at the funeral and acted as pall bearers, making the ceremony very impressive.
Besides her six boys, she is survived by her husband and numerous near relatives. The funeral services were held Monday, June 9th, at 1 p. m. at the home five miles west of Jewell and at the Zion church seven miles west, of which the deceased and family were affiliated since the congregation was first organized. Interment was made at Evergreen cemetery, Rev. Martin Norstad officiating.
Mrs. Mortenson as an exemplary wife and mother and by her genial and kind disposition endeared herself to the entire community. The esteem in which she was universally held by those who knew her was evidenced by the large concourse of neighbors and friends from the immediate neighborhood and Jewell who followed the remains to its last resting place, together with the many beautiful floral offerings.
The Record joins with the many friends in offering heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved husband and sons.
