He came to Jewell as a youth and lived there for many years. He also made his home in Alden and Gifford for some years. The last 30 years he has made his home in Randal. While here he was engaged in section work on the Chicago & Northwestern railroad.

In 1907 he was united in marriage to Miss Ora Stolp. To this union six children were born, all of whom survive him.

Mr. Espeland was a very good family supporter. He reared a fine family of which any father could be proud. It can be said, too, that his children were working together with the father maintaining a very nice home. Mr. Espeland's income was not great, but by hard work and careful management he was able to procure and maintain a comfortable residence.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife and six children. They are: Mrs. Frank Clark of Chillicothe, Howard of Atlantic, Mrs. C. W. Ranger of Radcliffe, Mrs. Sherman Thompson, Porter ang Glenn, all of Randall. A brother George Espeland of Nashwauk, Minn., two sisters, Mrs. Erick Erickson of LeGrand and Mrs. Clara Hogan of Mt. Vernon, Wash., also survive, besides 11 grandchildren, 8 nieces and nephews and a number of other relatives and friends.
