OBITUARY
EDWIN O. DYVIG
Edwin Olaus Dyvig, son of Evan and Trina Dyvig, was born Sept. 18, 1870, on a farm in Benton county near Norway, Iowa. He was two years old when he moved with his parents to a farm near Stanhope and he was reared and educated in the Stanhope community.
He was united in marriage May 29, 1894, to Carrie Johnson, and following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Dyvig farmed near Stanhope until 1930 when they retired and moved into Stanhope.
Mr. Dyvig is survived by his wife, three daughters and two sons; Mrs. Eleanor Hendrickson, Jewell; Mrs. E. H. (Effie) Fardal, Stanhope; Mrs. M. Eugene (Bessie) Fardal, Webster City; Harold Dyvig, Fontana, Calif., and Nealion Dyvig of Fort Smith, Arkansas; 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Ben Todnem of Jewell, Mrs. John Brekken of Randall, and Ben Dyvig of Stratford.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Tom Dyvig.
Mr. Dyvig was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, as a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church, southeast of Stanhope, a member of the board of trustees, and other activities of the church, was also active in many Stanhope community organizations.
He was a director of the Farmers' Mutual Insurance Co. at Roland, and was active in many Stanhope community organizations.
Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Monday, March 18th at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, preceded by a brief service at 1:15 at the family home in Stanhope. The Rev. Walter Carlson officiated with interment in the St. Paul cemetery.
Music was provided at the home by M. Eugene Fardal and Mrs. Glena Peterson with the vocal selections, "Abide With Me" and "Behold a Host," accompanied by Mrs. James Jacobson.
Vocal soloist at the church as Marvin Johnson, who sang, "Asleep in Jesus" and "Face to Face," accompanied by organist, Emmett Olson.
Pallbearers were M. Eugene Fardal, E. H. Fardal, Roger Dyvig, Clayton Fardal, J. Dean Fardal and Matthew Fardal.
