OBITUARY
Ole E. Dyvig
Ole Evanson Dyvig, son of Edwin and Martha Evanson Dyvig, born at Dyvig, Ordal parish near Stavanger, Norway, January 31st, 1851, and died at Stanhope, August 27, 1917, aged 66 years, 6 months and 26 days. He had been ill four weeks, suffering with gall stones and heart trouble, which finally turned into pneumonia. The funeral services were held Thursday, August 30th, at 1:30 at the home and at 2 o'clock at the Lutheran church in Stanhope, of which he was a faithful member. The pastor, Rev. Omar Brenne, officiated. The body was laid to rest in the St. Paul's cemetery. The pall bearers were: Edwin Olson, Thos. Quam, B. K. Lund, Gilbert Oppedahl, Andrew Anderson and S. L. Mathre. The services were attended by a large crowd and the floral offerings were many and beautiful, mute witnesses to the esteem and affection that all who knew him in life felt for Mr. Dyvig.
Deceased came to America in 1869, living in Leland, Ill., and in Benton county, Iowa, and later moved to Hamilton county where he lived on a farm 4 1/2 miles southwest of Stanhope where he located in 1887. He lived there until he moved to Stanhope four years ago.
He was married February 3rd, 1887, to Miss Isabella Knutson, to which union two children were born, Martha Dyvig, who lives at home with her mother, and Edwin O. Dyvig of Butterfield, Minn. The wife and both children are left to mourn the loss of father and husband. Other survivors are, his brother, Sam Dyvig of Inwood, Iowa and brothers, Iver and Ole of Ordal, Norway, and many other relatives.
