OBITUARY
Andrew Hill
Andrew Hill was born July 15, 1837, at Renneso, Norway. He emigrated on a sailing vessel, the "Louisa Sisters," arriving at LaSalle, Il., in the summer of 1856. In 1863 he went out west for mining and prospecting purposes in the mountains of Colorado, Utah, Montana, Idaho and California, returning in 1873 to La Salle Co., Ill. In 1875 he was married to Miss Anna Hoversteen. He bought land in La Salle Co. and settled down as a farmer for twenty one years. Then he moved to Boone county, Iowa, in 1896, and farmed there until 1904 when he moved to a farm four and a half miles north east of Ellsworth. In 1909 he retired from farming and moved to Ellsworth, where he has lived since.
On January 28, 1911 he had a stroke of paralysis and has ever since been an invalid. He died Augut 29, at 2 p.m., eighty years, one month and fourteen days old. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and eight children, four sons and four daughters, viz: Morgan Hill of Stanhope, Jesse Hill and Albert Hill of Ellsworth and Oscar Hill of Buffalo Center; Mrs. Joe Dahl of Ellsworth, Mrs. Nels Larson of Story City, Mrs. Fred Peterson of Ellsworth and Miss Cora Hill of Ellsworth. Besides these he leaves eighteen grandchildren one having passed away before him. He also leaves a brother, Michal Hill of Newark, Ill., and a number of other relatives who feel the sad bereavement.
