Jack Jackson, 89, died Monday, December 19, 2011, at Sunnybrook of Adel. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, December 23, at Iles Funeral Homes-Brandt Chapel in Dallas Center, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Waukee Cemetery in Waukee.

Jack was born in Salisbury, MO and served in the US Army during WWII. Jack and his wife Tillie owned and operated Jack's Grocery on the Triangle in Waukee. Later they operated the Golden Spur tavern in Waukee as well as Jack's Catering Service which was famous for hog roasts throughout the area. Jack enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his friends.

Jack is survived by his sister, Marge Bailey of Falls Church, Virginia, several nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Tillie and his brothers, Gene and Bill Jackson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Waukee Parks and Recreation Department.
