Des Moines, IowaRandy Cain, 57, passed away following a courageous battle with brain cancer on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at his home in Clive. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, January 13, 2012 at Tifereth Israel Synagogue, 924 Polk Boulevard, Des Moines. Burial will follow at Jewish Glendale Cemetery.
Randy was born May 5, 1954 in Ottumwa, IA. He worked for more than 30 years in the pharmaceutical industry, most recently as Vice President of Managed Care for Clinical Data Systems. He was an avid runner in his younger years, having completed the Boston Marathon in less than 3 hours! Randy was passionate about his motorcycles, Husker football and working out, but nothing surpassed his devotion for his family and dear friends.
Survivors include his wife, Kim; children: Keeley (Howard) Wettan of Burlingame, CA, Tanner (Lisa) Cain of Urbandale, Christopher Cain of Urbandale, Taylor Cain of Ames; step son, Drew Rosenberg of Baltimore, MD, grandchildren, Stella, Josephine and Charlotte Wettan, and Evan and Landon Cain; in-laws Shari and Stanley Engman of Des Moines, brother in-law, Randy (Desiree) Engman, Chicago. Randy was preceded in death by his father, Clifford; daughter, Melissa Jo; Aunt and Uncle: Sandra and Cloyd "Bubby" Cain.
The family would like to thank his medical team: Dr. Thomas Buroker and nurse Pat, Dr. Todd Janus and nurse Edna, and Dr. Louis Schneider and nurse Julie, as well hospice nurse Carol Fortune. Their compassionate care and kindness during his illness were deeply appreciated.
