Clayton County Register, 08 May 1952,

Burial services for Joe Adams, 37, were held Sunday afternoon at Hill Crest cemetery in Volga. The Rev. Edwin Higuett of Arlington officiated at brief services at the Gleim funeral home in Arlington preceding the burial.

Joseph Duane Adams, son of James and Mary Miller Adams was born in August, 1914, at Elkader. When a youth, he moved with his parents to Volga.

In September 1946, he was married to Grace Elizabeth Peterman and they farmed near Elkader. Two sons were born to them. The past year, they have been at Arlington, since Mr. Adams health failed.

His parents, one sister and one brother preceded him. Surviving are his wife and two sons, also two brothers, Arthur, Volga and R. D. Adams who lives in the East, two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Cornwell, Greeley and Mrs. Ruby Huntington, Cedar Rapids, a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
