Services for Austin J. Thyne were held Friday at Sacred Heart church at 9:30 o'clock. The Rev. Francis Bradshaw, pastor, celebrated the Requiem high mass, and officiated at the grave in Cox Creek cemetery, where interment was made.
Mr. Thyne, son of Austin and Mary Henry Thyne was born March 20, 1882, and died Tuesday, March 18, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Grace Wiley in Strawberry Point, where he had been cared for during his last illness.
His wife, the former Margaret O'Brien, died in April 1948.
They farmed on their home southeast of Volga, during their married life.
Survivors are five sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Wiley, Mrs. Florence Courtnage, Mrs. Anna Mullen and Josephine Thyne, all of Strawberry Point, and Mrs. Eileene Putz of Edgewood; Emmett and Robert Thyne of Volga, a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
One sister and three brothers also have preceded him in death.
The Rev. Father Cassidy, pastor of St. Mary's church at Strawberry Point was present in the Sanctury during the Requiem Mass.
Casket bearers were: P. H. Quinn, Dewey Farmer, Stanley Everitt, Luke Little, Merwyn and Vern Puffett.
