Clayton County Register, 27 Oct. 1955.

Funeral services for William Kibby, 70, were held at St. Mary's Catholic church Wednesday morning, Oct. 26. The Rev. Hubert Holsters of Edgewood officiated in the absence of the local pastor. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery in Strawberry Point.

Kibby was born at Dubuque on August 25, 1885, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kibby. He served as a waggoner in World War I and was gassed while in France. He never recovered from the effects of the gas and his health was delicate at best.

On October 04, 1926, he was married to Barbara Simek at Strawberry Point and the couple lived here since that time. During the past several years he was often hospitalized and death came to him at the Veteran's hospital in Iowa City Sunday afternoon following a five-week stay there. He was a member of the Catholic church and the Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors are his wife and three sisters: Mrs. Fred (Belle) Norton and Mrs. Frank (Jennie) Dement, both of Dubuque, and Miss Ida Kibby of Rockford, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
