Kibby was born at Dubuque on August 25, 1885, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kibby. He served as a waggoner in World War I and was gassed while in France. He never recovered from the effects of the gas and his health was delicate at best.

During the past several years he was often hospitalized and death came to him at the Veteran's hospital in Iowa City Sunday afternoon following a five-week stay there. He was a member of the Catholic church and the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors are his wife and three sisters: Mrs. Fred (Belle) Norton and Mrs. Frank (Jennie) Dement, both of Dubuque, and Miss Ida Kibby of Rockford, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
