William C. Ihlenfeldt, son of Christ Ihlenfeldt and Fredricka, nee Witt, was born in Germany on July 28, 1883. He was baptized August, 1883, and confirmed in 1897. He came to America on Dec. 01, 1900. November 20, 1909, he was united in marriage to Ella Heuer. For ten years they lived on the Wirkler farm near National, Iowa, and for the past 33 years they have lived on their present farm near Farmersburg, Iowa.
Mr. Ihlenfeldt became ill with influenza Sunday, Jan. 18. Complications developed and he passed away quite suddenly Wednesday, Jan. 21, at about 10 a.m.
He was preceded in death by his father, in 1905, his mother, in 1888, a sister, Augusta, in 1907, and a sister, Marie, in 1944.
He is survived by his widow; three sons, Laurence of Waterloo, Irvin of Farmersburg, and Willis of Waterloo; two daughters, Lora of Farmersburg, and Ina, (Mrs. Laurence Radloff) of Luana; five grandchildren, Charles, Sharon Kay, and Ronald Lee Ihlenfeldt of Waterloo, and Gary and Bonnie Radloff of Luana; one sister, Mrs. Lena Glawe of Elkader; two brothers, Fred and Ernest Ihlenfeldt, both of Elkader, and three brothers and three sisters in Germany, addresses unknown; besides other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 1 p.m. in the home, and at 1:15 in St. John's Lutheran church, Farmersburg. Burial was at Clayton Center.
