Bernice Warburton, 79, of Marcus died Friday October 2, 1998, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday Oct. 5 at Mt. Pleasant Church, rural Marcus. Burial will be in the Grand Meadow Cemetery.
Mrs. Warburton, the former Bernice Simons was born May 12, 1919, in Tilden Township, rural Cherokee County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Melvin and Nellie (Bosworth) Simons. She attended rural school and graduated from Marcus High School. She then attended Nettleton Business College. She married Lloyd Warburton on Feb. 14, 1944, in rural Marcus. They farmed in the Pierson and Grand Meadow area. He died on March 1, 1962. She then moved to Marcus and worked for many years in the office at the Marcus High School. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Church and a past member of Eastern Star.
Survivors include, a daughter, Linda and her husband, Ron Klingbeil, of Marcus; two sisters, Ruth Schlenger and Beulah Coburn, both of Marcus; six grandchildren, Robin Nelson, Renae Warburton, Ryan Warburton, Amy Nellis, Emily Klingbeil and Scott Klingbeil and nine grandchildren, Cody, Tyler, Sarah, Jozey, Christopher, Alex Christopher, Autumn and Shane and a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Warburton of Sioux City.
