Robert L. Admire, 67, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Sunday, March 29, 1998 at 4 a.m. at his home due to an apparent heart attack.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 1, at 11 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Anthon, Iowa. There will be military rites at the graveside.
Mr. Admire was born on June 24, 1930 at Anthon, Iowa to Jess and Della (Dicus) Admire. He attended schools in Anthon, Quimby, Iowa and Correctionville, Iowa and graduated from the Meriden High School, Meriden, Iowa in 1948. He served in the U.S. Air Force from July 1950 until July 1954 and was a Staff Sergeant in the Military Police. On January 15, 1955, he married Donna Mae Gillespie at Cherokee. He was the manager of the Earl May Seed Company in Cherokee for several years and had worked at Wilson Foods for many years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; a daughter, Kristi Admire, Omaha, Nebraska; a son, Dana Admire and his fiancé, Julie Smith, Fergus Falls, Minnesota; two brothers: Frank Admire, Washta, Iowa; Archie Admire, Marshalltown, Iowa; and a sister, Masel Dillie, Cherokee.
