Louie Katzman, 85 of Cherokee and Lake San Marcos, California died on February 17, 2003, in California. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 17 at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee.

Louie was born on June 11, 1917, at Rockwell City to Rose and Sam Katzman. He moved to Cherokee after serving six years in the U.S. Army during WWII. He owned and operated the Farm and Home Store in Cherokee for many years. He had been a member of the Masons, Shriners and Kiwanis. He loved all sports and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Esther Wieland Messenger.

He is survived by his wife Grace; a stepdaughter Diane Smith and her husband Dallas of Santa Monica, Calif.; a brother Abe Katzman and his wife Esther of Toledo, Ohio; a sister Annie Goldberg and her husband Arnold of Minneapolis; a brother-in-law Lee Messenger and his wife Maxine of Sioux City.
