Ardis M. Kreykes, 84, of Cherokee, Iowa died Saturday, March 25, 2000 at the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee following a short illness.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 28 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee.

She was born on February 13, 1916, at Des Moines, Iowa to Clarence and Caryl L. (Tharp) Olson. She graduated from East High School in Des Moines in 1932 and attended Drake University. She was married to Leo Kreykes on Sept. 27, 1935, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sanborn, Iowa. She sang professionally on Des Moines radio stations beginning at age eleven and continued to sing and play piano her entire lie. She provided music for funeral and church services in the Cherokee area and was organist at Bethlehem Lutheran Church for 30 years, leaving the organ in 1996. She taught piano lessons in the Cherokee community for many years, retiring in 1989. She had been a resident of Cherokee since 1946. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing bridge and providing music for all occasions.

She is survived by her daughter Caryl Lee Cline and her husband Dale of Cherokee; 4 grandchildren: Deb VanPeursem and her husband Vern of Sioux City, Iowa; Doug Cline and his wife Sue of Grimes, Iowa; Nancy Ewing and her husband Randy of LeMars, Iowa; Dan Cline and his wife Tami of Mason City, Iowa; 8 great grandchildren: Timothy Van Peursem and his wife Kristin, Jennifer, Michael and Tyle VanPeursem; Mitchell and Christopher Cline; Katelyn and Karter Ewing.
