Leona M. Kline, 84, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Friday, January 8, 1999, at the Cherokee Villa following a ten-year illness. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at the First Church of Christ in Cherokee. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee.

She was born on December 8, 1914, at Kenosha, Wisconsin to Leon and Dora (Ginkow) Slack. She was married to Roy K. Kline Sr. on July 2, 1944, at Highland Park, Illinois. She and her husband then moved to Cherokee to raise their family.

She did house-keeping for several families in the community and had worked at the Skyline Motel. She also sold Avon Products and was a former Girl Scout Den Mother.

She was a member of the First Church of Christ. She enjoyed watching the birds and animals and loved to sew, cook, read and go walking.

She is survived by her six children: Peter Augard and his wife, Joyce, of Atlanta, Georgia; Thomas Augard and his wife Bonnie of Cherokee; Roy K. Kline Jr. and his wife Sharon of Blaine, Minnesota; Sandra Cameron of Sandy, Utah; Dr. Salli Kline of Augsburg, Germany; Michael Kline of Lone Tree, Iowa; 12 Grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and one sister Doris Johnson of Amniston, Alabama; one brother, Elmer Slack in New York; two sister-in-law’s: Theresa Slack of Gurnee, Illinois and Betty Slack in Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on August 18, 1986, a daughter, Geraldine on July 4, 1944, a grandson and three brothers, Clarence, George and Arthur. (Source: scrapbook clipping)
