Lila A. Maki, 83, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Friday, May 15, 1998 at the Cherokee Villa Nursing & Rehab Center in Cherokee following a brief illness. She had been a resident of Cherokee since 1988.
Her body was cremated and the cremains will be buried in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Van Buren Township, Cloquet, Minnesota at a later date.Mrs. Maki was born January 29, 1915 in Kinney, Minnesota to David and Aina (Keskine) Nurmi.
Survivors include a daughter, Sheila and her husband, Martin Zauhar, Cherokee; two granddaughters: Michelle and her husband, Craig Emerson, Eden Prairie, Minnesota; and Gina and her husband, Mike O’Leary, Omaha, Nebraska; and three great grandchildren: Kayla Emerson; Carter Emerson; and Conner O’Leary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1978; and two sisters.
