William D. Strahmann, 60, of Larrabee, Iowa passed away Thursday, May 14, 1998, at his home following an apparent heart attack.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at the Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Burial will be in the Cedar Cemetery, rural Larrabee.
Mr. Strahmann was born June 24, 1937, in Paullina, Iowa to William and Mary (Dailey) Strahmann. He attended school in Larrabee, graduating from Larrabee High School in 1954. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 – 1958 aboard the USS Intrepid aircraft carrier. Following his return to Cherokee, he drove a gravel truck for Mauer Construction and later drove a truck for Cherokee Cold Storage for 19 ½ years. He retired in 1995 due to poor health. He worked for many years on the Larrabee Fun Days committee and also served on the town council. He enjoyed children, gardening, visiting with friends and bird wat ching. On June 10, 1989, he married Cindy Morrow in Centerville, South Dakota.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy; a son, Joe Strahmann, Cherokee; a daughter, Amy and her husband, Jeff Booher, Cherokee; three brothers: Gerald Strahmann and his wife Lenora, Cheyenne, Wyoming; Tom Strahmann and his wife Rosa, Cherokee; and Bernard Strahmann and his wife, Nina, Kenai, Alaska; two sisters: Margaret and her husband Milton Nazaryk, Nathrop, Colorado; and Jean and her husband, Richard Brennan, Sioux City, Iowa; and two godchildren, Deny and Cassie Ludwig.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
