Funeral services for Emma Thomas, 86, Downey, were held Oct. 23, 1988 at the Downey Baptist church with the Rev. John Wiers officiating. Burial was in the Memorial Gardens cemetery, Iowa City.

Mrs. Thomas died Oct. 21 at the Crestview Care Center, West Branch, following an extended illness.

The daughter of Joseph and Anna Cerney Zinkula, she was born Oct. 2, 1902 in Johnson county. She married Elmer Thomas Feb. 25, 1921 in Muscatine. He died in 1963. She was a member of the Downey Baptist church.

Mrs. Thomas is survived by a son, Duane Thomas, West Liberty; 2 daughters, Mary Ann Meder, West Branch and Mina Landes, Ft. Dodge; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, William Zinkula, Tucson, Ariz. and 2 sisters, Amelia Leech, Buffalo, Ill. and Anna Dyche, Rockford, Ill.
