Funeral services for Elaine K. Tripp, 40, Iowa City and formerly of Tipton, were held Oct. 18, 1988 at the First United Methodist church in Tipton, with Dr. Jerrold Swinton officiating. The organist was Sylvia Gould and the church choir sang. Burial was in Prospect Hill cemetery in Wessington Springs, S.D.

Mrs. Tripp died Oct. 15 at the Iowa City Care Center following a lengthy illness.

The daughter of Herbert and Theresa Schimke Winter, she was born March 23, 1948 in Wessington Springs, S.D. She graduated from Wessington Springs high school in 1966 and attended North State Teachers College in Aberdeen, S.D. She married J. David Tripp Aug. 19, 1967 in Wessington Springs.

Mrs. Tripp had been employed as a secretary in the Tipton schools and was a member of GFWC Tri Sigmas, a Tipton bowling league, the First United Methodist church and choir.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Shawna and Stacy Tripp, Tipton; her mother, Theresa Leischner, Wessington Springs, S. D.; 2 sisters, Carol Pier, Dickinson, N.D. and Gerry Barta, Huron, S.D. and 2 brothers, Robert Winter, Wessington Springs and Duane Winter, Newark, Calif. She was preceded in death by her father.
