Funeral services for Evelyn Edler, 72, New Liberty, were held Sept. 16, 1988 at Peace Church of Christ United in Bennett, with the Rev. D. L. Gardella officiating. Ruth Riedesel was the organist and pallbearers were Tom Blair, Tom Crank, Greg Spengler, Ronnie Spengler, Randy Spengler and Phil Hermiston. Burial was in Inland cemetery, Bennett.

Mrs. Edler died Sept. 13 at Mercy hospital in Davenport.

The daughter of Edward and Elsie Moses Spengler, she was born Jan. 9, 1916 in Otto. She married Elmer Edler May 6, 1934 in Galesburg, Ill. She was a member of Peach Church of Christ United and the Rock Island Eagles Auxiliary. She was a homemaker and had worked in the Bennett school system for many years.

Mrs. Edler is survived by her husband; a son, Gary, Miramar, Fla.; 3 daughters, Mrs. John (Janet) Cahalan, Waterville; Mrs. Harlan (Janice) Holdorf, Pittsburgh, Pa. and Mrs. Chanley (Jean) Lundgren, Minneapolis, Minn. 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Duane Spengler, Durant and Edward Spengler, New Liberty; and a sister, Mrs. Jess (Dorothy) Collier, Davenport. She was preceded in death by a sister.
