Last rites for Mrs. Robert (Mary Z.) Asquith, 85, Kalona, formerly of West Branch, were held at the Springdale United Methodist church Sept. 20 with the Rev. Nancy F. English officiating. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery.

Mrs. Asquith died at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, Sept. 16.

The daughter of Thomas M. and Eldora Hemmingway Lodge, she was born near Downey March 28, 1903. She married Clifford Heacock in 1920. He died in 1945. She married Robert B. Asquith in Iowa City Oct. 4, 1958. The couple moved from West Branch to Kalona this year.

She was a member of the Springdale United Methodist church, Juanita Chapter 274 Order of the Eastern Star, the Hawkeye Morgan Horse Association of Iowa, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary No. 2581 and Moose Lodge No. 1096, Iowa City.

She is survived by her husband, a stepdaughter, Ann Klima, Cedar Rapids; a brother, Melvin Lodge, Lawndale, Calif.; a sister, Eleanor Letts, Iowa City; 4 grandchildren, 2 stepgrandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. A son and 4 sisters died earlier.
