Funeral services for Erna Kruse, 79, Durant, were held Sept. 10, 1988 at Lacock Funeral Home in Durant, with the Rev. Paul Pennington officiating. Pallbearers were Paul Kelding, Raymond Lilienthal, Rollo Arp, Harold Schuett, Gerald Lage and Dennis Paustian. Burial was in the Durant cemetery.

Mrs. Kruse died Sept. 8 at Mercy hospital in Davenport.

The daughter of William and Anna Eilers Butterbrodt, she was born Aug. 19, 1909 in Cedar county. She married Leonard "Tom" Kruse in February, 1932 in Clarence. She was a past member of the Royal Neighbors of America, Sunbury Camp. She had worked as a restaurant cook and a nurses' aide at the Wilton Nursing Home.

Mrs. Kruse is survived by her husband; a son, Eugene, Cedar Falls; a grandson and a brother, William Butterbrodt, Tipton. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters and a grandchild.
