Funeral services for Dale O. Merritt, 51, were held at Sheets & Son Funeral home Nov. 10 with the Dr. Jerrold Swinton officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery. Pallbearers were Claire Countryman, Dale Schulz, Mike Beaver, Gary Jennings, Gene McCaw and Douglas Emrich. Patty Niehaus was organist.

Mr. Merritt died at St. Luke's hospital, Davenport, Nov. 6.

The son of Owen L. and Jeraldine A. Leatherberry Merritt, he was born at Davenport Jan. 26, 1936. He attended the Clarence and Bennett schools, graduating from Bennett Community high school in 1954.

He was a materials handler at Alcoa. He was a life member of the National Rifle Assocation and a member of the Aluminum, Brick and Glass Workers Union #105. He served in the US Marine Corps with the rank of corporal.

He is survived by his mother, Tipton and a brother, Duane, Bettendorf. He was preceded in death by his father.
