Last rites for Alvin T. Christensen, 79, were held at the Sheets & Son Funeral home Nov. 9 with Dr. Jerrold Swinton officiating. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery. Pallbearers were Ardell Christensen, Harvey Jensen, Jack Leverenz, William Naber, Everett Sander and Chris Vohringer. Betty Trevathan was organist; Diane Moon was vocalist.

Mr. Christensen died at Cedar Manor Nov. 5.

The son of Chris P. and Caroline A. Anderson Christensen, he was born near West Branch Jan. 6, 1908 and graduated from Springdale high school in 1923. He was married to Blanche B. Melson at West Branch Feb. 26, 1930.

A retired farmer, he worked as a custodian at the West Branch schools for several years. He lived in West Branch before moving to Tipton 10 years ago. He was a member of First United Methodist church, Tipton.

He is survived by his wife; 2 daughters, Mrs. Karl (Marlene) Vohringer, Maquoketa and Mrs. Roger (Diane) Martin, Arvada, Colo; 15 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Carrie Hopperstad, St. Louis, Mo. and a brother, Louis, Victoria, Texas. He was preceded in death by a son, 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
