Funeral services for William J. (Billy) Casteel, 81, Waterloo, will be Dec. 6, 1 p.m. at Chapel of Memories, with burial in the Wilson Cemetery, Independence.

Casteel died Dec. 3 at Shoitz Medical Center. He was born June 17, 1902, in Buchanan County, the son of John and Ellen Winner Casteel.

He married Hazel T. DeWald on Dec. 15, 1934, in Clinton, Ill.

He had farmed for many years in Buchanan County and moved to Waterloo in 1949. He worked at the John Deere Tractor Works for 21 years before retiring June 16, 1967.

Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Marie Fleming, Wenatchee, Wash., four grandchildren; one brother, Gerald, Waterloo; and three sisters, Genevieve Burke, Gertrude Morgan, and Sarah Azbill, Waterloo.

The Chapel of Memories West in Waterloo is in charge of arrangements.
