Ruth Ellen Downing, 80, of Stuart, Iowa, and formerly of Adair, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at Community Care Center in Stuart.

She is survived by her children Toni (Ralph) Peterson of Casey, IA, John Ernst of Des Moines, IA, Annette Ernst of Lac du Flambeau, WI, and Debra (Phillip) Maddox of Chandler, AZ; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and her sister, Betty (Jimmie) Lents of Greenfield, IA.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adair. Hockenberry Family Care in Adair, Iowa, is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be left at www.hockenberryfamilycare.com. ~ the Des Moines (IA) Register Thur 05 May 2011.
