Douglas Alan Marshall, 63, died Friday, September 15, 2017 at Ramsey Village in Des Moines. The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Tuesday, September 19th at Iles Westover Chapel. A memorial service will be held 11 am Wednesday at Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines.

Doug was born May 3, 1954 in Greenfield, IA to William and Darlene (Don Carlos) Marshall. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of South Dakota, then moved to Denver, CO for three years. He returned to Greenfield and purchased the family business, Don Carlos Insurance Agency. Doug owned the Insurance Agency for over 30 years, until his illness led him to retirement.

In 1973 Doug met Sheryl Gullickson in Vermillion, SD. The couple married March 10, 1979 in Freeman, SD. After settling in Iowa their son Paul was born in 1984, and daughter Chris in 1985. Doug was instrumental in developing the Youth Soccer Program and High School Team in Greenfield, where he remained active until his retirement. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed being outside, cutting wood for the fireplace and listening to music.

Survivors include his wife, Sheryl of Urbandale; children: Paul (Katie) Marshall of Windsor Heights, Chris (Josh) Malone of Des Moines; brother, Scott (Connie Steen) Marshall of Greenfield; mother-in-law, MaeBelle Gullickson of Sioux Falls, SD. Doug was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Kenneth Gullickson.
