Franklyn LeRoy Daugard, Sr., 81, of Adair, Iowa, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2017, at his home in Adair, Iowa.
Frank was born on January 4, 1936, in Lemmon, South Dakota, the son of Christian and Martha (Jensen) Daugard. His family moved to Atlantic, Iowa, when he was 8 years old. Frank attended Atlantic community schools and graduated from Atlantic High School with the class of 1954. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Gaskill on June 19, 1958, in Audubon, Iowa. Frank then enlisted in the United States Air Force on July 1, 1955, and was honorably discharged on February 3, 1959. Upon his discharge, he and Dorothy lived in Chicago for about a year before returning to Atlantic. Later they moved to Adair, Iowa, after their first child was born and they remained there.
He was a very hard worker and for over 53 years, he was a cement truck driver for various companies such as Allied Engineering, AM Cohron & Son and American Concrete. Frank was also a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adair. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes play football (especially when they beat the Nebraska Cornhuskers) and “working” in the garage. Franks greatest love was spending time with his kids and grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Christian and Martha Daugard; his parents-in law, Lyle and Marie Gaskill and his grandson, Jessie Leeper.
Frank is survived by his wife, Dorothy Daugard; his children, Franklyn Daugard, Jr., Rodney Daugard and Kelly (Jim) Stonehawker; his grandchildren, Michael, Alex and Katie Leeper; other relatives and friends.
There is no scheduled visitation. A graveside service and interment will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 19, 2017, in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, north of Adair.
