Petty Officer Rains served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Houston (CA-30) and was MIA/FOD/KIA when the Houston was sunk in the Battle of Sunda Strait. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

2nd Lt. Rogers served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps and was MIA/KIA while he was flying in the service of his country in the Southwest Pacific area.
