The WWII Special Project IAGenWeb pages are maintained by Coordinator, Linda Ziemann with |
Our goal for this website is to provide records about Iowans who served during the WWII years 1939-1945, thereby assisting family and historical researchers in their quest to learn about, and pay tribute to, WWII Service MEN and WOMEN. These records may consist of public biographies, military records, documented events, company histories, awards, newspaper accounts of battles and those who served (soldiers, aviators, seamen & medical personnel.) Feel free to SUBMIT the above type of information about Iowa ServiceMen and Women to Coordinator, Linda Ziemann. (Everyone is welcome to participate by submitting data for consideration.) “Thanks to all who served during the WWII Years, 1939-1945. Because you sacrificed, our country is FREE today.” |

Search Suggestions--Use the above search engine IF you know the surname of the service person you are seeking. Because of the large amount of surnames on this website, the suggestion for using the specific County Indexes is most advisable. If you know the county that the serviceman hailed from - consider using the side panel county links on this main page. The side county links have surname alphabetical indexes for the MEN. There is also an index in the panel below for the service WOMEN of Iowa.

This website was launched befittingly on the 71st Anniv. of the United States involvement in WWII, 12/7/2012. Seventy-one years ago, the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, brought the U.S. into World War II. In his address asking Congress for a declaration of war, President Franklin D. Roosevelt called Dec. 7, 1941, a date that "will live in infamy." |
