Daniel Henry Nees was born Nov. 5, 1910 to Joseph H. and Mary Driscoll Nees. He died July 14, 1945 and is buried in Saint Michaels Catholic Cemetery, Nashua, IA.
Pvt. Nees served in World War II with the U.S. Army and died of accidental drowning in Burma.

Jacob M. Nelson was born May 31, 1919 to Clarence Bernard and Gertie May Thompson Nelson. He died Nov. 16, 1949 and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Nashua, IA.
Sgt. Nelson served with the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Flight Engineer aboard the B-29-50-MO Superfortress #44-86364 and died while on a “round robin” training flight when two of the group planes collided.

Sgt. Nelson served in World War II with the U.S. Army 116th Station Hospital in New Guinea.

Lester Robert Nelson was born Jan. 19, 1918 to Hans Frederick “Fred” and Henrietta Rasmussen Nelson. He died Feb. 23, 1981 and is buried in Willow Lawn Cemetery, Plainfield, IA.
Cpl. Nelson served in World War II with the U.S. Army.

Harold George Neuenswander was born Dec. 27, 1907 to George Russell and Louise Holzer Neuenswander. He died Sept. 29, 1944 and is buried in Epinal American Cemetery and Memorial, Dinoze, France.
Sgt. Neuenswander served in World War II with the U.S. Army 157th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division and was KIA and awarded the Purple Heart and Silver Star.

Robert James Norman was born Dec. 8, 1919 to Melton B. and Marjorie Fae Johnson Norman. He died Aug. 19, 2013 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
Capt. Norman served in World War II aboard the USS Nevada (BB-36) where he was a Petty Officer in charge of turret No. 4, during the attack on Pearl Harbor. While the ship was on fire, sinking, an ensign, Joseph Taussig, Jr. was stranded up on the mast one leg blown off and bleeding badly. Norman climbed up, his clothes catching on fire as he went, scorching his back. He reached the young ensign, strapped him into a stretcher, tied it to the mast and slowly lowered it down to the deck. Bullets and bombs were flying around his head the whole time. That ensign, like Norman, survived and had a long, fruitful career in the Navy. Both men rose to the rank of Captain.
He also served aboard the USS Turner (DD-834) and with the Salvage Base 7th Fleet, Salvage Base Philippine Sea Frontier and Salvage Base 12th Naval District. He also served in Korea and Vietnam in his 36-1/2 year career in the Navy. He was awarded the Silver Star, Purple Heart and Legion of Merit.

Melvin James “Buzz” Notton was born June 7, 1918 to Robert Melvin and Mary Ellen Baker Notton. He died Apr. 13, 1988 and is buried in Davenport Memorial Park, Davenport, IA.
Petty Officer Notton served in World War II with the U.S. Navy as a mail clerk on a sub-chaser in the Caribbean Sea.
