Nancy (Fell) NEWMAN
May 8, 1819 --- October 16, 1897On Saturday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L. L. Broffle, occurred the death of Mrs. Newman at the ripe old age of 78 years. She had been an invalid, and a great sufferer for several years and had been helplessly confined to her bed at the home of her daughter during the most of the last two years. The corpse was quickly laid out and Mrs. Broffle started on her sad mission with it on the afternoon train, for burial at their old home — Amboy, Ill.

Mrs. Nancy Newman, mother of Mrs. L. L. Broeffle, died Friday forenoon at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 7 days. Mrs. Newman has been as helpless as a little child for about two years with paralysis. The remains were taken to Amboy, Ill., her former home for interment, accompanied by her daughter Mrs. Broeffle. Quite a large crowd of friends accompanied the remains to the depot to pay their last tribute of respect. Mrs. B. has the sympathy of the entire community in the hour of her bereavement.Wright County Democrat – Clarion, Iowa

[Her first child by Thomas Newman was born in 1839 in New York state. They probably married about 1838 or 1839.]
