Services Held For Eldon E. Strong
Services for Eldon Elbert Strong were held Friday at the Eyler Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Rev. Jensen officiated. Mrs. Pete Rodriguez sang several numbers and was accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Paul Loomis. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery. Pallbearers were Victor Strever, Karl Weber, Robert Hill, Lawrence Cole, Ray Arnold and William Schultz.
Eldon Elbert Strong was born to Mary Elbert and Charley Ernest Strong June. 1, 1907 at Havelock, Iowa. On June 6, 1938, he was married to Kittie Bradley at Austin, Minnesota. They had two daughters, Kittie (Mrs. C. W. Mann of Amarillo, Texas) and Vicki of Clarion who survive him. Also surviving him are his wife, Kittie; three adopted children, Jimmy, Cindy and Terry at home; two stepsons, Jerrold Pohlman of Corpus Christi, Texas, and James Pohlman of Burlington, Iowa; one half brother, Donald Strong of Des Moines, Iowa; a half sister, Lois, (Mrs. Eldon Smith) of Webster City, Iowa; one step sister, Loretta (Mrs. John Doud) and a half brother, Pete Hammen, both of Des Moines and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Wesley; a sister, Virgye; a half brother, LeRoy Hammen; and a half sister, Idele.
Mr. Strong worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 32 years. He belonged to the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. His main concern was to provide for his family. He died Monday, Nov. 23 at Mercy Hospital [Mason City] where he had surgery at the age of 63 years.
