Hi,
My grandmother, Arvilla Olson (married name Wooster) was born on a rented farm in Woolstock and later moved into Eagle Grove to live with her maternal grandmother, Arvilla Pohlman. I am trying to research Arvilla Pohlman's life, but have very little to go on! I think she was divorced, or possibly estranged, from her husband. My grandmother was born in 1913, so I am guessing Arvilla Pohlman was born in the early to mid 1870's. I remember my grandmother saying that side of the family was Dutch-Irish.
I remember as a little girl being shown the house in Eagle Grove where my grandmother lived with her grandmother. All I can remember is that is was a pink house with a porch, near the soybean factory and not too far from some railroad tracks. I beleive on or near a street like "2nd Ave".
I also remember my grandmother telling me that she had a lot of young uncles, very close to her age, that spent time at this house, and they taught her how to dance by listening to music on the radio.
If there is anyone who knows anything about the Pohlman family in Eagle Grove/Woolstock area, I would be very very excited to hear from you!
I am trying to find out when Arvilla Pohlman was born, where she was born, her husband's name, when she came to America if she immigrated, and when she died.
Thank you so much....
Janel
