August 28, 1946 - May 13, 2024

SIOUX CITY - Dennie Bert Yingst, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024, at the age of 77 in Sioux City, Iowa, surrounded by his family.

A Memorial Service to honor Dennie's life will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, May 17th, 2024, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Dennie would want everyone to be comfortable, so the family requests casual attire for the service.

Dennie was born on August 28, 1946, in Cherokee, Iowa, the son of John and Peggy (Waddell) Yingst. Dennie's journey was marked by dedication and hard work. After graduating from Central High School, he was drafted into the Air Force and honorably served his country from 1965 to 1967. Following his military service, Dennie embarked on a fulfilling career as a Production Manager at Purina Mills for over four decades until January of 2010. His commitment and passion for his work left a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Dennie married Shelia Marie Mulhair on July 25, 1975, in Sioux City.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dennie was known for his vibrant personality. Described as stubborn yet endearing, he had a knack for making friends wherever he went. His hobbies included golfing (with multiple holes in one to his name), annual trips to Mexico, watching baseball games, rooting for the Iowa Hawkeyes, cruising in his Corvette, and enthusiastically attending his grandchildren's activities.

In his personal life, Dennie found profound joy in the company of family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife Shelia Yingst; children: Chris (Roy) Rios of Sioux Falls, SD, Angie (Andy) Sipple of Albertville, MN, Nancy (Grant) Marquardt of Sioux Falls SD ,and Shane (Jennifer) Yingst of Whiting IA; grandchildren: Trever, Tristan, Cece, Luke, Gabby, Alex, Mary, Nathan, Viggo, Eli, Colin, Clayton, and Braeden; great grandchildren: Gabe, Rhanesmae, and Balefire; siblings Delight Kretlow, Dave (Chrissy) Yingst, and Dan (Jill) Yingst; along with many more relatives and friends who will dearly miss him.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Peggy Yingst and his sisters: Candy Hansen and Dawn Coenen.

Rest in peace Dennie. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
