April 15, 1903 - April 19, 1990Leo McVeigh, 87, of rural Keokuk, died Thursday, April 19, in his home.
He was born April 15, 1903, in Keosauqua, the son of Alfred and Mary Francis McVeigh. He married Helen Greenslaugh on Aug. 18, 1922, in Keokuk. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at Midwest Carbide for 18 years. He also farmed in the area for many years.
He was a member of the Montrose United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; son, James Robert McVeigh of Kansas City; daughters, Dorothy Lucille Junkins of Chino Valley, Ariz. and Helen Joann Rooney of Cedar Rapids; sister Myrtle Gregory of Keokuk; 19 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
he was preceded in death by son, a daughter, one great-grandchild, five brothers and four sisters.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Vigen Memorial Home with Rev. Don Hensen officiating.
Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Hamilton.
Visitation will be after noon on Sunday at the Vigen Memorial Home and the family will meet with friends from 7-9 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Montrose United Methodist Church.
